A manufacturing process that opens-up use of the ‘wonder material’ graphene

Cambridge spinout Paragraf is the first company in the world to mass produce graphene-based electronic devices using standard semiconductor processes. The company’s deposition process creates a one-atom-thick layer of graphene directly on a substrate, making manufacture of high-quality 2D graphene possible for the first time at scale. This opens up graphene-based electronics for automotive, aerospace and industrial applications, healthcare diagnostics, low energy technologies and future computing devices. Paragraf was spunout in 2017 with support from Cambridge Enterprise, the University’s commercialisation arm, and currently employs 110 people across the business. Manufacturing takes place in Somersham, Cambridgeshire, as well as at a new site in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and San Diego, USA.
