Avoiding brain injury in childbirth

When there are concerns about a baby’s wellbeing during labour, maternity staff need the right tools and support to provide the highest quality of care, and to communicate effectively with women and their birth partners. The Avoiding Brain Injury in Childbirth programme – a unique collaboration between the Royal College of Midwives, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and Cambridge’s Healthcare Improvement Studies Institute – aims to support every maternity service nationally to do this by adopting improved clinical practices and a safety culture toolkit co-designed with midwives and doctors.
