Buffering butterflies from the impacts of climate change

Land-use and climate change pose a major threat to butterflies, resulting in a decline in three-quarters of species found in the UK since the 1970s. Working with the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire Wildlife Trust, Cambridge researchers are assessing how different species cope with changing temperatures, as well as trialling changes to habitats to provide suitable microclimatic conditions for temperature-sensitive species.
