Exploring the indigenous languages and cultures of the Channel Islands

Mari Jones’s research has led to the first-ever comparative glossary of the Norman Language in the Channel Islands. The glossary brings together surviving indigenous Norman languages of Jersey, Guernsey and Sark – Jèrriais, Guernésiais and Sercquiais – and offers a unique insight into the linguistic heritage and culture of the islands. A crowdfunding campaign by local publishing company Blue Ormer has raised £20,000 from local residents to fund publication of the glossary.
