Improving management of prisons

Researchers at Cambridge’s Prisons Research Centre (PRC) have improved management of high-security prisons and long-term prisoners in England and Wales (including HMP Frankland, Durham; HMP Whitemoor, March, Cambridgeshire; HMP Full Sutton, York) through their development of surveys for Measuring Quality of Prison Life and Staff Quality of Life for HM Prison Service. The Scottish Prison Service also commissioned the PRC to conduct a longitudinal quality-of-life study in HMP YOI Grampian (Peterhead), the UK’s first ‘community-facing’ prison with men, women and young offenders.
