Manufacturing semi-conductors for the Internet of Things

Pragmatic Semiconductor provides a unique technology platform to create ultra-low-cost flexible integrated circuits that will add intelligence to everyday objects, supporting the ‘Internet of Things’. The University was an early investor in the Cambridge-based company through Cambridge Innovation Capital (CIC), the University’s preferred investor. CIC has continued to support growth of the company, which recently invested $90 million in a new manufacturing site, Pragmatic Park in Durham, to produce billions of these non-silicon chips to enable ubiquitous electronics applications across multiple industries, from healthcare to the circular economy. Pragmatic Park will become the focus of a growing electronics ecosystem in the region, solidifying the UK’s position as a leader in innovative semiconductor production and creating high-value manufacturing jobs.
