Cambridge spinout company Colorfix, based in Norwich, has pioneered the first entirely biological dyeing, transforming industrial dyeing into an environmentally friendly, socially responsible and economically viable process. Now entering industrial scale-up, Colorfix has trebled the size of its team in Norwich to supply several leading players in the global fashion industry and has 70 employees. It also has a dye house facility in Cambridge, an office in London and a wholly owned subsidiary, CFX, in Portugal. The company was founded in 2016 by researchers in the Department of Pathology with support from Cambridge Enterprise, the commercialisation arm of the University of Cambridge.
