A ground-breaking breast cancer treatment programme in Cambridge that could potentially save thousands of women’s lives is being rolled out across the country in collaboration with the NHS genomic medicine service. Over 1,000 patients have already joined the Personalised Breast Cancer Programme and have had their whole genome read like a barcode so that the results can be used in a matter of weeks to plan the best treatment available. The programme is currently available in Cambridge, Colchester, Ipswich and Oxford, with West Suffolk opening by the end of May 2023.
