BioBullets clear water pipes clogged by the invasive zebra mussel, saving the UK water industry £8 million per year. These tiny fat-coated particles invented by Cambridge researchers are toxic to invasive zebra mussel but leave native mussels unaffected. The control method has been tested by seven UK water companies, with long-term trials under way with Bristol Water, Northern Ireland Water and Thames Water. This new technology has led to job creation and commercial benefits at the manufacturing plant in Bristol.
