Reducing breast and ovarian cancer in women at high risk

Breast and ovarian cancers are leading causes of death in the UK. BOADICEA – a NICE-endorsed, user-friendly, web-based prediction tool – identifies women at especially high risk, helping them make decisions about life-altering preventive actions such as pre-emptive surgical removal. Available via the CanRisk tool, it’s used to make 120,000 risk calculations in the UK each year. Genetic testing guided by BOADICEA has helped avoid around 120 deaths from ovarian and 60 from breast cancer.
