Retrofitting buildings to reduce emissions

A 1930s telephone exchange in central Cambridge has been transformed into a world-leading example of an ultra-sustainable retrofit. ‘Entopia’ is home to the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL). It sets new standards for low energy use, carbon emissions and impact on natural resources, and is a case study used by CISL to research the UK’s progress to reduce emissions. Entopia also houses the Canopy, a new Cambridge community for entrepreneurs, startups, innovators and small businesses pioneering sustainability innovation.
