Protecting our towns and cities from rising sea levels

Researchers are helping to turn complex climate science into straightforward predictions to help decision makers protect towns and cities from flooding. Working with Arup, the Environment Agency and the National Oceanography Centre, the team used data from the coastal area of Hull, where 100k properties are at risk from extreme weather events. The interactive ‘sea-level rise insights tool’ can be used to understand the economic impact of tens of thousands of scenarios of rising seas and mitigation activities.
