Scottish energy policies have dramatically reduced greenhouse gas emissions, with 75% of Scottish electricity now produced from renewable sources. Further progress needs public support – but how aware are communities of the benefits from low-carbon technologies? To find out, researchers ran focus groups in Aberdeen, Peterhead and Edinburgh, and citizens’ juries in Aberdeen and Edinburgh. Their findings will help the public and private sector understand how best to engage with communities in Scotland on topics such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage, and local solutions.
