New technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) have the potential to transform every aspect of the way a company does business, but there’s a lack of guidance on what a successful IoT digitalisation strategy looks like. Researchers from the Universities of Cambridge and Sheffield, together with industry collaborators, have developed and tested guidelines for industry best-practice. The blueprint was tested with established manufacturing firms CEMEX, Caterpillar, ABB, BAE and Thales in Cambridge and Sheffield, and an executive training programme has been launched to help firms design and manage their future digital services and customer experience.
