Research aimed at addressing the drop in numbers of students choosing languages in the UK has supported UK language policy through briefings, expert advice, workshops and training of policymakers as well as a policy journal. The multi-institutional team led by Cambridge also created the first UK ‘pop-up’ museum of languages, designed to raise awareness of the value of languages and the benefits of speaking more than one language.
